ICOPAC 2018 International Conference on Pavements and Computational Approaches in Delhi
While the global economic positions and thereby economic levels of regions have witnessed dynamic changes, the population growth coupled with economic growth of the developing countries is putting a severe constraint on the available natural resources and the search for sustainable solutions has become the fundamental requirements. Even though the transport needs of the nations around the world vary, there are beneficial findings and knowledge bases which can be shared and used for the common benefit of all.
With the road transport recognised as the widely used and adaptable mode, especially in developing countries, the ageing infrastructure, unabated user congestion, increasing growth in heavy vehicle traffic and insufficient funding for road development and maintenance have rendered the road transport inefficient. There are several major challenges to the national road network that require a clear focus on enhanced pavement design, construction, performance evaluation, management and preservation for developing long-lasting, low-maintenance pavements. Within this milieu, enhanced and optimised solutions to the current problems have a key role in developing and preserving the road infrastructure.
The International Conference on Pavements and Computational Approaches (ICOPAC-2018) aims to provide a common forum for deliberations on important issues across all disciplines of pavements. It also seeks to fill the gaps between the researchers, policy makers and practitioners in design, construction, maintenance and management of road pavements, especially with regard to an increased demand with climate change adaptation, smart and innovative materials and data analysis approaches. Thus, ICOPAC-2018 serves as a platform for a wide blend of scientific and technical congregation in the field of Civil, Chemical, Mathematical, Geotechnical and Environmental expertise, to name a few. It is expected to host an array of eminent personalities who will contribute to the theoretical and practical approaches of road infrastructure engineering. Also, topics from state-of-the-art technologies are expected to be discussed amongst experts involved in design and construction of pavements, experimental characterisation, computational analysis, soft computing and modelling.
The objective of ICOPAC is to promote pavement technological advancements worldwide, with special emphasis to present scenario in the developing countries. This is facilitated by encouraging exchange and transfer of pavement technologies and analytical approaches among professionals and researchers of different countries and regions through technical sessions during this conference.
